Harrison Township New Police Station Building

Project Overview

This new 12,200 SF Police Station was constructed in historic Mullica Hill, and is uniquely positioned on the corner of Colson Lane and Walters Road. Envision provided construction management services. The multi-purpose facility is safe and secure, yet accessible and accommodating all at the same time.

The building is a one-story structure, slab on grade, with a 38 ft. high glass and steel public entrance. It is completely secure with cameras, life safety, and secured entrances. A state-of-the-art fire sprinkler system was included throughout the building to protect operational, administrative, and high security areas.

The high security area is remote and separated from the administrative offices. It includes individual cells, larger holding cells in the booking area, and a Sally Port for secure prisoner transport. To accommodate the purposes of this dynamic structure, a variety of material was used including: brick veneer with a unique patter, bullet resistant windows, metal standing seam roof, as wells as a membrane roof, and ‘AzeK’ fascia and trim for exterior elevations.

Site work consists of modifying and deepening the existing storm water control basin and additional grading, paving and installation of stone surfaces at the adjacent existing Public Works Building. All drive aisles and parking areas will be on asphalt with a decorative paver circular parking area at the building’s entrance. Miscellaneous site features include utility sidewalks, flag poles signage, site furnishings, and high security fencing with card reader entrance gates.

Envision acted as a liaison for the Township’s deputy administrator. The firm handled all permitting and utility related items, and assisted the Township, Architect, and General Contractor on value engineering. Envision performed a value engineering review of the drawings before construction began, which resulted in $25K of savings to the Township. Envision administered the following logs: submittals, RFIs, change orders and change order requests, schedule and two-week look ahead reports, manpower, safety, daily reports, and photographs. The firm’s construction manager worked daily with the general contractor’s field superintendent regarding constructability issues, safety concerns, and schedule constraints as it related to long lead items. He also led bi-weekly construction meetings, maintained site insurance certifications, and reviewed and approved monthly AIA pay application, manning reports, and certified payroll records.
