New Jersey American Water, Monterey Iron Removal Plant

New Jersey American Water, Monterey Iron Removal Plant

Project Overview

The Monterey Iron Removal Plant project involved the construction of a new 1.73 million gallon per day water treatment plant to treat the Monterey Well No. 20 located in Toms River, NJ. The new treatment plant is located on the parcel adjacent to the NJAW Monterey public water supply well, storage tank and pumping station. The treatment plant removes iron and manganese in the raw water using chemical oxidation and filtration with Greensand Plus pressure filters to levels below the secondary maximum contaminant level. The new plant provides a reliable drinking water supply with enhanced treatment to improve taste and appearance.

Overall work included, but was not limited to, mobilization and demobilization; field engineering and surveying; obtaining construction permits; site preparation; installation of soil and erosion control measures; demolition and disposal of existing structures and appurtenances; excavation and backfill; dewatering and performing pile load tests; concrete work and installation of concrete filled steel piles; furnishing and installing new equipment, piping, valves, and appurtenances; generator installation; architectural work and painting; electrical work, plumbing work; fire protection work; heating and ventilating work; instrumentation and control systems work; plant security systems work; installing pipe supports on a steel storage tank and coordinating with Owner’s software engineer who was responsible for providing all Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming.

For this project, Envision provided CPM scheduling services for all work that was to be scheduled, sequenced and performed in a manner that minimized disruption to the public and plant operations. Additionally, the schedule did not interrupt or impact the Water Company’s ability to operate and maintain service of the existing facility. Envision provided monthly progress updates to the baseline schedule as well.
