Envision Consultants Ltd. Promotes Kevin A’Hearn to Director of Project Controls

November 20, 2024 – Envision Consultants, Ltd. has announced the promotion of Kevin A’Hearn to Director of Project Controls. A’Hearn brings an expert level of project controls experience which extends to both project and program management. A’Hearn is a driving force in the continued success of the firm’s well-regarded and steadily growing scheduling, cost estimating, claims consulting and risk management business lines. The firm’s Project Controls Team is thriving under the direction of A’Hearn, a 24-year AEC-industry veteran, whose vision for one-stop-shop, single source of Project Controls services, has come to fruition.

A’Hearn, who joined Envision four years ago in the fall of 2020, is a tech-savvy AEC Industry leader who knows first-hand the value of developing a quiver of skills over sharpening only one. He began his career as a Project Scheduler, then expanded to roles of increasing responsibility as an Assistant Project Manager, Project Manager, and Project Director. Before he was tapped by Envision leadership to head its Project Controls Team, A’Hearn was helping to manage more than 70 projects under the City of Philadelphia’s innovative Rebuild Program, which is improving parks, recreation centers, and libraries in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Today, he manages a team of nearly 20 project controls professionals who are entrenched in the firm’s strong backlog of design and construction assignments.

I always imagined a Project Controls Team whose services were enhanced by the synergies inherent in the collaborative execution of its services. Now, with the full backing of our President & CEO, Victoria Malaszecki, MBA, PMP, our clients have one point-of-contact for all of their project controls needs, and I can coordinate where we overlap,” A’Hearn said.

A team of schedulers, estimators and other professionals make up the group, ranging from senior professionals with decades of experience in their respective disciplines to younger professionals who are being exposed to Envision’s portfolio of diversified projects covering a wide range of market sectors. From Aviation to Water & Wastewater, Envision’s Project Controls Team is continuously expanding its knowledge base in support of the firm’s PM/CM and Rail & Transit Teams.

Combining estimating, scheduling, claims and risk professionals also makes it easier to assign the most appropriate resources to a particular project or program. Gone are the days of thinking of project controls as a siloed environment: estimating, scheduling, claims, risk. Now, it’s more of a nexus,” A’Hearn said.

A’Hearn’s exceptional performance on Rebuild has led to opportunities for both its PM/CM and the Project Controls Teams. For example, Envision was recently notified of a prime contract award from a Philadelphia based Project Sponsor to provide Construction Cost Estimating services on an on-call basis. A’Hearn is proud of the breadth of diversified projects and programs he’s had a hand in. He loves being able to point them out from his office, when driving through Philadelphia and its suburbs, or when visiting project sites throughout the U.S. He looks forward to passing on that same pride and sense of accomplishment to his staff.

If you’re a person who wants to be part of a Project Controls Team, I can assure you that you won’t be working on a project you’ll never see. At Envision, you’ll be working on a project or program that you’ll get to touch, see, feel and be a part of.” A’Hearn said.

You won’t be just working behind a computer screen; you’ll be on-site, tracking down progress. You’ll be working with the major contractors and engineers across the nation,” A’Hearn continued.

Envision Consultants, Ltd. was recently ranked #11 on the Philadelphia Business Journal’s annual list of Top Women-Owned Businesses and is a certified Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB).
