City of Philadelphia, Division of Aviation, CEP Stage One Airfield Development Project, Philadelphia International Airport

Project Overview

Air travel is the most in-demand transportation service of today, as there is no replacement for a direct, cross-country flight. Therefore, it is vital to the Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), its passengers, and the global economy to keep up with this demand at the highest efficiency rate possible.

The purpose of the CEP Stage One Airfield Development Project is to enhance airport capacity in order to accommodate current and future aviation demands in the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area during all weather conditions. The CEP will reduce the total delays at the Airport, reduce the costs of delays, and reduce the Airport’s contribution to delays in the region and across the nation.

Envision provided professional scheduling and estimating services for this project. This is the second phase, which will provide a 1,500-foot extension of Runway 9R-27L that will increase the total runway length to 12,000 feet, providing the capability to accommodate large, long-haul aircraft flying to any point on the globe. Envision also reviewed and commented on the contractor’s construction schedules, including the baseline schedules and all subsequent schedule updates to assure accuracy and reasonableness. Comments will be submitted to Aviation Engineering and to the PMO using eBuilder.
