Amtrak, Gateway Program’s Harrison Fourth Track
Project Overview
As part of the Gateway Program, this project includes the design and construction of approximately 2,000 ft. of additional main track along the Northeast Corridor (NEC) through the city of Harrison, NJ. This track will be constructed on the northern side of the corridor and require new embankment and retaining structures, track, signals (both Amtrak and PATH), 3rd rail, catenary system modifications, and a relocation of the current westbound PATH track to accommodate the new alignment. The project will also identify any design changes necessary to connect the new track with the existing infrastructure and be coordinated with PATH’s Harrison Station project. The outcomes of this project will be increased safety and reliability and expanded railway infrastructure to enable the near doubling in train volumes expected in the future.
Envision has provided cost estimating and P6 scheduling, including the creation of a cost-loaded schedule, through the design of the fourth track of the NEC.
