Amtrak Facilities and Structures State of Good Repair (SOGR) Assessments

Project Overview

Amtrak is continuously adding, replacing or rehabilitating facilities and railroad infrastructure throughout its system as part of an on‐going effort to increase efficiencies and achieve operating cost efficiencies. This contract combines engineering design services for both infrastructure and facilities projects ion the Central, South and West Divisions inclusive of: bridges, culverts, retaining walls, static/structural portions of moveable bridges and other structures along the right-of‐way; Facilities including MofE, MofW, transportation and other facilities along the right‐of‐way and in adjacent yard facilities; Tunnel, Overbuild and Fire / Life Safety. Task orders for this assignment include:

• Chicago Car Shed Project: Envision provided cost estimates for up to 7 alternatives for a new or renovated maintenance of way (MOW) equipment storage and maintenance facility. The cost estimates included a summary of what is included in the assumed alternative and summary of cost broken out by quantity and unit price. Fee: $44K.
• New Orleans Pullman Build HVAC Project: Due to the building location in New Orleans, hurricane considerations such as windspeeds and flood elevations must be factored into unit locations. This task includes an Assessment Study of the existing facility and preliminary design of a new HVAC system with an associated Building Management System for all applicable components. Envision provided cost estimation services for the design packages of the NOL Pullman Building HVAC Upgrade. The service included an order of magnitude construction cost estimate and construction schedule for a draft and final submission package. Fee: $12K.
• New Orleans Yard Electrical Upgrades Project: This project involves installing electrical supply and distribution equipment to support maintenance yard activities for existing and new facilities and track at Amtrak’s New Orleans Yard. Equipment includes wayside power cabinets, transformers, switch gear and light pole replacements. Envision provided cost estimates for up to 7 alternatives for a new or renovated maintenance of way equipment storage and maintenance facility. Fee: $47K.
