Connecticut Department of Transportation, PMO Task Order Assignments

Project Overview

Envision was awarded a nearly $7M task order contract with the U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Transit Administration for Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) projects as part of Envision’s Project Management Oversight Services (PMO) contract.

The Walk Bridge carries four railroad tracks and approximately 175 trains with 125,000 passengers daily. The Walk Bridge has been subject to continued operational failures, is vulnerable to damage from harsh weather conditions, and requires replacement. This Project protects and improves valuable assets in Norwalk—the Norwalk River, the rail line, and local roads—through infrastructure investment. The Walk and Devon Bridge replacements, both over 100 years old, will be reliable, redundant, and resilient structures, improving rail dependability on a critical transportation link along the NEC. The Walk Bridge Project also includes three contiguous bridge replacements, a new set of track interlockings at CP 241 and CP 243, and the construction of a new, electrified passenger train layover yard at the Danbury Dockyards. Additionally, and uniquely, the Walk Bridge Project is being advanced using the Construction Manager-General Contractor (CM/GC) alternative project delivery method.

In addition to the above projects, the entire Program consists of six (6) projects including reconstructing five (5) substations and adding one (1) new substation for a total of six (6) substations for the Program, new signaling and PTC on the Waterbury Branch Line, new PTC installations and new catenary wires along the New Haven Corridor.
