SEPTA / Amtrak Paoli Station Accessibility Improvements

SEPTA / Amtrak Paoli Station Accessibility Improvements

Project Overview

The Paoli Train Station is an Amtrak owned station located in Pennsylvania along the Keystone Corridor which extends from Philadelphia to Harrisburg, PA. The station is served by both Amtrak trains (Keystone and Pennsylvanian) and SEPTA Regional Rail trains (Paoli Thorndale Line) as well as multiple SEPTA bus routes. In 2015, 176,474 Amtrak passengers and approximately 740,000 SEPTA passengers passed through the station. The current station facilities built in 1953 by the Pennsylvania Railroad, including the one-story brick station building, are not handicap accessible and are in need of improvements. SEPTA and Amtrak have partnered to make modifications to the station and infrastructure at the station in order to bring the aging facility into compliance with 2006 Department of Transportation Accessibility Standards.

The Paoli Station Accessibility Improvements project included a new center high level platform, new elevators and ramps, a pedestrian overpass, parking lot improvements, ADA improvements to the existing station building, and changes to infrastructure that will allow for construction of the center high level platform.

Envision provided CPM scheduling support services for the Paoli Station Accessibility Improvements project which included pre-bid schedule development, reviews of the construction schedule, and reviews of updates to the contractor’s baseline schedule. Envision also provided cost estimating services including change order cost estimate support and engineering cost estimate verification.

In addition, Envision provided on-site field construction management support acting as a liaison to AECOM’s Project Manager and assisting with field related issues including the following: participating in weekly production meetings; tracking all man-hours relating to potential cost impacts; oversight of submittal, change order, and RFI logs; and maintaining certified payroll for all subcontractors.
